PRODUCTION DESIGN
For Shut In, the production design was integral to building the film’s tension and atmosphere. We combined practical, on-location builds with several full-scale standing sets on stage to meet the demands of the cinematography.
On location, we constructed “rooms within rooms,” creating functional spaces that blended seamlessly with the stage sets. Each set featured custom-printed wallpapers and detailed scenic work by our talented scenic charge, adding depth and a sense of history to every room. We also took the exterior of a dilapidated house and made it look “worse” and also had to flip it to “fully restored” within one week.
The design also included dozens of custom-built furniture pieces and props, all crafted and painted to match the film’s aesthetic. Every detail, from the textures to the finishes, was carefully considered to support the story and immerse the audience.
This project was a true collaboration, where the production design not only set the tone but also became a vital part of the storytelling.

PRODUCTION DESIGN
For Andy Fickman’s Don’t Turn Out the Lights (Race to Witch Mountain, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief), the production design needed to strike a perfect balance of horror, comedy, and suspense. At the heart of this twisted tale was an RV that wasn’t just a vehicle—it was a character, holding dark secrets, a heavy past, and a touch of unsettling humor.
The transformation of an new-ish RV into this layered, enigmatic centerpiece was no small feat. Every detail was carefully crafted to make the RV feel like it had been through hell and back—both literally and metaphorically. Set decoration and scenic teams worked tirelessly to distress, age, and layer every surface, creating a space that felt hauntingly alive. Peeling wallpaper, hidden compartments, and odd knickknacks hinted at a sinister backstory, while a touch of offbeat charm kept the audience on edge.
This wasn’t just a set; it was a character in its own right—a space that could make you laugh nervously one moment and clutch the edge of your seat the next. The small standing set served its purpose, but the RV stole the show, embodying the film’s unpredictable blend of terror and humor.
It was a thrilling challenge to design a world where the horror could breathe, the comedy could land, and the secrets could linger long after the lights went out.

Production Design Overview for Magnolia
For Randy Houser’s Magnolia, the goal was to seamlessly blend two very different environments: the gritty, coastal vibe of Mississippi’s oil derricks and the familiar warmth of Nashville, TN.
We shot a few key scenes on location at a towering oil derrick in Mississippi, capturing the raw authenticity of the coastal setting. The rest of the film was shot in Nashville, which meant me and my team had to recreate that same feel while weaving in Nashville’s own unique charm.
It was all about the details—weathered textures, carefully chosen props, and thoughtful set dressing—to make it all flow naturally. The challenge was to make two distinct places feel like one cohesive world, and it was incredibly rewarding to see it all come together on screen.
Synopsis:
Magnolia, (the film) is set in Randy’s home state of Mississippi and follows two characters (Ana and Noah) in the midst of an intense relationship, marred by their personal lives. Centered around a small group of oil rig workers, the visual representation of the album mirrors the blue-collar sentiments of Houser’s Magnolia lyrics as the small Mississippi town provides the perfect backdrop to highlight his rootsy melodies and swampy guitar licks. In the film, Randy plays a local singer at the town dive, performing several songs off the album throughout the film.
